I, Shellie Marlowe, am registered as a sole trader, operating as Shellie Marlowe Proofreading, offering freelance editing and proofreading services to a variety of clients.
This privacy policy describes what data I require and how I use it, and shows how I am compliant with GDPR, the General Data Protection Regulations in force from 25th May 2018.

What information do I collect from you?
When you contact me, I request the following:

How do I use your data?
I use the data I collect as follows:

For my internal accounting processes (for example, to send invoices), and so that I comply with the requirements of my tax authority (HMRC)

To contact you in response to your enquiry or booking
Where do I store the data?

Emails. These are stored on my password-protected email account. I do not have an external address book.

PayPal. This is a password-protected payment service. I only use PayPal if you prefer not to pay by bank transfer. You can access PayPal′s privacy policy here.

Wix. This is my website host. It is password-protected and has SSL-certification (https) to provide an additional layer of security. You can access Wix’s privacy policy here.

Files. These are stored on my computer's hard disk. I can then delete them when you ask me to.

How long do I keep the data for?
Your personal data, i.e. name and email address, is kept for a minimum of five years to comply with my obligations to HMRC, the UK tax authority.
Unless requested otherwise, I will keep your files for the same length of time, though I am more than happy to delete them sooner if you request this.

Do I share your data?
Unless I am audited by HMRC, I do not share your data with anyone.
If you agree to provide a testimonial, I may include the name and details you provide.
I do not subcontract work, nor do I discuss your project with third parties or on the internet/social media without prior permission.
